CT Teaching Manual

Reviews

"This textbook teaches the junior resident in radiology how to read CT images...the physical and technical principles of CT, the fundamental data for the interpretation of its images...are briefly but efficiently presented. On the topic of contrast media, very useful is the review of the pharmacokinetic of the iodine containing agents, of their collateral effects, of their possible adverse reactions, and of the protocols on how to deal with them. ...The normal findings, the anatomical variants and the principal pathological processes..are synthetically but informatively presented and illustrated by CT images and related schematic drawings. ...A brief introduction..is also followed by a brief test that would serve as a self-evaluation by the radiologist. This synthetic and didactic manual is particularly directed to the junior residents, who will find practical information on how to perform a CT examination, on how to interpret the obtained images, and on how to face the most signficant pitfalls related to the procedure. The illustration associating the CT image and its related schematic drawing, executed in a scale of grays, helps the reader in the identification of the various structures, and the associated list of the landmarks to examine results in an efficacious mehtod of studying and recognizing the images. Radiological technicians and also nonradiologists will find in [this book] important information. For this practical format and because of its rich iconography, which permits to "learning by looking," this is a manual that should be in the library of any department of radiology, for a prompt and informative consultation not only by junior residents but also by senior members." --Journal of Clinical Imaging

"The target..includes medical students, radiology residents, radiology technologists, general practitioners, and specialists from other fields. Academic radiologists can also find excellent material in the book to help them in teaching CT. This educational book is really excellent and can be strongly recommended, especially to medical students and non-radiologists interested in CT."--Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy

''This book provides an excellent introduction to CT scanning. The book has quality pictures and diagrams and is most helpful in the learning of basic cross sectional anatomy and basic pathology.'' -- Doody's Book Reviews

''...Excellent material in this book...illustrated by the latest generation of pictures including high quality views of the coronary arteries. This educational book is really excellent and can be strongly recommended.'' -- Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy

"Extensive use is made of line drawings to enable identification of important structures. These are presented alongside corresponding CT images and labelled according to a key printed on a fold-out flap inside the book's cover. There are useful self-test exercises at the end of each chapter. ...I think "CT teaching manual" justifies a place as a bench book in any CT department where teaching and training take place, offering a great deal of worthwhile material at a very modest price."--RAD Magazine
