Thieme Publishers New York: 25 Years and Growing!
Thieme's rich history dates back to 1886, and our New
York offices have been a powerful division of the company
for a quarter of a century, with 2004 marking Thieme Publishers New York's 25th anniversary.
|
|
Thieme was founded by Georg Thieme,
who at age 26, created what would become one of the
world's largest independent medical publishing companies.
In 1910, he invited Bruno Hauff, a young publisher from
Leipzig, to become a partner. The Hauff family became
proprietors of the business in 1925 and have remained
so ever since. After World War II and his release from
a Nazi work camp, Guenther Hauff, son of Bruno, recognized
the need for Thieme's books to be available in America
and also to publish books by American doctors and scientists.
Georg Thieme Verlag then entered into an agreement with
Stratton Intercontinental Medical Book Corporation of
New York to publish books in the Americas. The two companies
merged in 1979, and Thieme Publishers New York was born.

Now
with over 25 years in New York City, we continue to
grow and be a leader among medical book publishers. Thieme Publishers New York is rooted in Georg Thieme's standard of excellence, and has honored a dedication to reliability, accuracy,
and presentation for the past 25 years. Inspired by
the past and committed to an independent future, Thieme Publishers New York plans continued growth through both traditional print and innovative electronic products.
