Thieme Brings Layout of Chemistry Journals into Line
Stuttgart, June 2005 - The international chemistry journals "SYNLETT" and "SYNTHESIS" of Thieme Chemistry have been brought into line with the appearance of Thieme Publishing Group. Moreover, as the number of submitted manuscripts keeps increasing, 20 instead of 15 or, respectively, 18 issues of the journals will appear from this year on.
The English-language journals "SYNTHESIS" and "SYNLETT" report on results on the latest research and trends in synthetic chemistry. By having the published contents selected, assessed and processed by an internationally acknowledged team of publishers, the two journals offer chemists access to the most current information in their fields. During the last ten years, the number of submitted manuscripts more than doubled for both journals. The number of articles from China, for example, has risen by 60 percent. For this reason, "SYNLETT" and "SYNTHESIS" will be published with 20 issues from this year on. Furthermore, the journals have been brought in line with the appearance of Thieme Publishing Group. "This way, the journals will be even more recognisable as part of Thieme Chemistry's product line. Their characteristic red or, respectively, blue colour will be retained in the oversized issue numbers on each cover," says Susanne Haak, Managing Editor of the journals.
The ISI Impact Factor is 2,074 for "SYNTHESIS" and 2,741 for "SYNLETT," placing both journals amongst the top 10 journals for organic chemistry throughout the world. Furthermore, both journals are indexed by the most important databases such as Current Contents/Physical, Chemical and Earth Science, Chemical Abstracts and Science Citation Index.
Since the introduction of "eFirst" last year, the scientific articles of the two chemistry journals "SYNTHESIS" and "SYNLETT" are electronically accessible and quotable even before they are printed. Articles released for publication are accessible several weeks in advance in the online journals database of Thieme Publishing Group at www.thieme-connect.com. Visitors of the site can access both abstracts of the articles which always contain a graphic illustration of the most important reactions described in the article and all search functions. Subscribers of the journals "SYNTHESIS" and "SYNLETT" can read the full texts both in HTML and in PDF format. All older articles of the two chemistry journals, starting from the first year, i.e. either 1969 or 1989, are likewise accessible in the online archive via Thieme-connect.
