Thieme Publishers signs agreement with the NorthEast Research Libraries Consortium (NERL) to license the full program of Thieme online journals, reinforcing Thieme's commitment to facilitating access to high-quality information for the academic sector.
New York, NY - February 4, 2002: Thieme Publishers, one of the world's largest independent medical publishers, has signed an agreement with the NorthEast Research Libraries Consortium (NERL, http://www.library.yale.edu/NERLpublic) to license the full program of Thieme's high-quality online journals.
The NERL agreement will enable participating top northeastern academic institutes to gain online access to more than 80 titles in the fields of medicine, medical research, chemistry and life sciences through the e-journal gateway Thieme-Connect. Thieme-Connect (www.thieme-connect.com) is the user-friendly platform providing fast internet access to Thieme's esteemed and highly-relevant journal collection.
The agreement further extends the reach of Thieme's content following an agreement with OhioLink, a consortium of the libraries of 78 Ohio colleges and universities and the State Library of Ohio, signed in 2001.
"We are very pleased our journals will be available through NERL," said Brian D. Scanlan, president of Thieme Publishers, "Enabling ever wider access to our information in the scientific and medical community, while maintaining the unparalleled quality standards for which Thieme is known, is a key strategic goal for us."
