Thieme Publishes New Specialist Journal:
Specific search of current chemistry literature now possible with "SYNFACTS"
 Stuttgart, 2005 - "SYNFACTS" is a new specialist journal, which is now being published by Thieme Chemistry. It complements the list of books and journals of Thieme's chemistry division by a periodical which will be published in 12 monthly issues per year and provides chemists with an overview of the most important current trends in synthetic chemistry.
New findings are constantly emerging in the field of chemistry. Chemists who want to stay at the forefront of all-important developments in research have to work through a great number of articles to obtain the information they need. Often, this is time-consuming work, which is becoming more and more difficult due to the considerable increase in the amount of current literature over the last years. Chemists need to reduce this wealth of information to that part which is relevant for them. It is for this reason that Thieme Chemistry now publishes the scientific specialist journal "SYNFACTS": The editorial committee of the journal reads and evaluates the current specialist literature in the field of synthetic chemistry. Said committee is currently made up of six chemists from the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany and the UK. They process the most important aspects and key reactions from selected original articles for "SYNFACTS", with reference to article and source. The journal provides a commented overview of the most interesting current trends and thus enables access to new developments.
Rather than having to work through an unmanageable amount of publications to filter out the relevant information, the chemist using "SYNFACTS" will be provided with information within a specific context, which has been pre-selected and evaluated by experts.
The journal does not only address professional chemists in industry and universities, but also advanced students and lecturers. "SYNFACTS" is the third journal published by Thieme Chemistry, after "SYNTHESIS" and "SYNLETT". It will be published in 12 monthly issues per year, initially with 350 copies, it started with a pilot issue in July 2005. The issues no. 1, 2 and 3 will appear monthly as of October 2005. Subscribers of the journals "SYNLETT" or "SYNTHESIS" received the pilot issue and the first three issues free of charge together with their journal. "SYNFACTS" is available at the price of $989.00 by subscription as of January 2006 ($349.00 for private subscribers).
