THIEME Atlas of Anatomy Series

Thieme Releases First Book of the THIEME Atlas of Anatomy Series: General Anatomy and Musculoskeletal System

New York, NY - September, 2005 - Thieme New York officially announced its release of the first book in the new THIEME Atlas of Anatomy series, "General Anatomy and Musculoskeletal System." The THIEME Atlas of Anatomy is a major publishing event, presenting the first newly illustrated anatomy artwork in decades.

"General Anatomy and Musculoskeletal System" features outstanding coverage of the musculoskeletal system and general anatomy, as well as embryology and surface anatomy. With its two-page spread format and more than 1,500 illustrations, it is an ideal resource for clinical insights into the most critical concepts of anatomy.

The THIEME Atlas of Anatomy presents anatomy in an innovative way by linking anatomical concepts directly with clinical practice. "Schematic views of each anatomical system integrate the structures with their functions, while also showing how these same structures can malfunction," said Dr. Cathrin Schulz, senior editor at Thieme New York. "The vividness and level of detail in the drawings make it an ideal reference tool for physicians, allied health professionals, and students."

"Physicians will also find it handy as a patient education tool," added Dr. Schulz. "The clarity of the artwork makes it perfect for explaining medical concepts."

With more than 3,000 original illustrations in total, the THIEME Atlas of Anatomy series is a complete visual guide to the human body. Never before has an atlas covered each anatomical structure in such stunning detail. Combining beautiful art and science, this groundbreaking Atlas series sheds new light on both the study and treatment of the human body.

"We've received enthusiastic and positive responses from students and professors, who are delighted to see the new illustrations. We've had a tremendous response to our first print-run," said Ross Lumpkin, sales director, Thieme New York.

"Neck and Internal Organs," the second book in the THIEME Atlas of Anatomy series, will be published in April 2006, and "Head and Neuroanatomy," the third book, in October 2006. In addition to hard and soft cover formats, there will also be editions of each book using Latin nomenclature. More products are in development, including images that will be available over the Internet for classroom use.
