New York/Stuttgart – Thieme's “Handbook of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery” has won first place in the Professional/Technical category of the 2012 Benjamin Franklin Awards from the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), the largest not-for-profit trade association representing independent book publishers in the United States.
The contest was open to all books with a 2011 copyright date. “Handbook of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery” is a detailed yet handy clinical reference for physicians covering all of Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) medicine, and has been favorably reviewed in Head and Neck and European Journal of Plastic Surgery, among other journals.
Named in honor of America's most cherished publisher/printer, the annual Benjamin Franklin Awards recognize excellence in independent publishing. Publications, grouped by genre, are judged on editorial and design merit by top practitioners in each field. The trophies are awarded to the best books in each category and are presented to the publishers during a gala awards ceremony on the last evening of the Publishing University, just before the opening of Book Expo America.
