- Thieme Publishers is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Neligan, M.D., F.R.C.S., F.R.C.S.C.(I), F.A.C.S., as Editor-in-Chief of the "Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery." Now in its 23rd year, the international publication is a major means of communication for the global microsurgical community.
The journal is in the midst of significant changes. Improvements to the publication include several new editorial policies, one of which is the introduction of the acceptance of online submissions, which is effective immediately.
Dr. Neligan is but the second Editor-in-Chief in the history of the journal. He follows the recently retired Dr. Berisch Strauch, who founded the publication alongside Dr. Lee Landres. The former Editor-in-Chief gave the journal to the society he also founded, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery. He will continue his association with the “Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery” as Editor Emeritus. "I feel very fortunate to have been chosen to succeed Dr. Strauch as Editor-in-Chief, but I take on the job with the realization that his act will be impossible to follow," says Dr. Neligan.
With more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and 30 book chapters under his belt, Dr. Neligan is continuing to make an exceptional impact in his field. He sits on the board of directors of the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation as well as the North American Skull Base Society and is a member of the editorial board of several influential publications including the “Journal of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery,” “Annals of Plastic Surgery” and the “Canadian Journal of Plastic Surgery.” Currently, he is Secretary-General of the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM) and Secretary of the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM).
The “Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery” consists of original articles containing clinical information for the practicing microsurgeon. It includes extensive information on groundbreaking technology and innovative techniques as well as significant cases and problems. All articles are stringently peer-reviewed by renowned experts in the field.
