In an effort to increase publications of high-quality scholarly work from the SMFM meeting, the SMFM is collaborating with the American Journal of Perinatology (AJP) which has agreed to expedite review and decision of manuscripts not accepted by American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AJOG).
AJP has agreed to perform a review of these manuscripts and make a review decision within 7 days of submission. You can submit your manuscript electronically by clicking on https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ajperinatology
In order to facilitate the review process, AJP has agreed to consider the reviews you received from AJOG, rather than send the manuscript through another round of reviews. If you so choose, please include the AJOG reviewers' comments in your submission letter, along with your responses to the comments. In addition, please upload a tracked-changes and a clean version of the manuscript. Please keep in mind that while the AJP website will not allow you to submit it as a revised manuscript, but rather as a new manuscript, the editors will consider it as an already peer-reviewed manuscript.
If you prefer, you may submit it without the AJOG reviews. In that case, the AJP editors will send your manuscript for peer-review. It will still be expedited, but may take longer than the former process. For both submission types, please identify in your letter that this was a SMFM presentation.
Please keep in mind that there is no guarantee that the manuscript will be accepted in AJP. The decision will be based on the quality of the manuscript, the reviews from AJOG or AJP, and your response to the reviews if applicable.
Thank you for supporting the SMFM annual meeting. We appreciate the effort that goes into every study, presentation, and manuscript. For this reason, the SMFM Program Committee continues to find ways to publish the work presented at the annual meeting. We hope that you take advantage of this great opportunity.
