Thieme Account

At Thieme, we have recently been working intensively on improving our services for you.  The result is the new "Thieme Account": Your central access to all digital Thieme products.

In the first phase, your Thieme Account will provide access to the following products:

eRef | I care | MedOne | Osteothek | PIA | RÖMPP | VetCenter

Gradually, more products will be accessible with your Thieme Account.

We are continuously expanding the functionalities, and will launch with the following functions:

• Manage your personal data centrally in one place
• View organizations you are affiliated with and manage your Remote Access (formerly "home access")
• Activate access codes
• Activate your personal journal subscription online

This is how it works:

1) Create your Thieme Account
Enter the email address and a password you want to use to register your account.  These are the credentials you will use later to log in to our digital products.

Click "Next" once you have read and agreed to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

2)  Complete your basic data
In the second step, complete your first and last name and preferred salutation.  Once completed, click "Create New Account" and we will send you an email with an activation link. This allows us to confirm the email address you provided is valid and the registration really comes from you.
Once you receive the email, confirm your account via the activation link in the email.

3) Confirm your Thieme Account

Open the email in your mailbox and click on the link, or copy the link into your browser.

After activation, you can begin to use your Thieme Account!  If registration includes redeeming an access code, you will enter your code under next steps.

Continue to use this login as usual. We will automatically transfer it to your Thieme account. You do not have to do anything.

Enter your email address and your chosen password in the login screen.

Note: Accounts registered before the introduction of the Thieme Account can still be used.   Please login with your previous credentials.

 If you have forgotten your password, please use the forgotten password link found in the login screen.

2) Enter the email address of your Thieme Account and confirm with "Reset password".

3)  You will receive an email with a link to enter your new password.  Click on the "Change your password link" or alternatively copy the link into your browser.Note: Please note that the link is only valid for 15 minutes for security reasons.

4) Enter and confirm your new password.

5) You may now log in with your new password.

All your personal data is stored in the Thieme Account.

• Account data
  Under Account you will find all data that are mandatory for the creation of a Thieme account.  This includes your salutation, first and last name, as well as your email address and password.
  
  
• Change password
  If you would like to change your password, you can do so in the "My data" > "Account" tab.
  
  
• Information about education, studies and profession 
  In order to test or license some of our Thieme products, we may need additional information about your occupation in order to ensure that only qualified personnel have access to our medical content.  You may also voluntarily add this information at any time.
  
  
• Changing your email address or deleting your Thieme account
  If you would like to change your email address or delete your Thieme account, please contact our customer service: https://www.thieme.com/en-us/contact/customer-service

If your organization (eg institution, employer) has licensed a Thieme product, we offer you the option of using our products remotely from your organization's network. To do this, you will need to create a Thieme Account. We automatically activate the remote access.

How it works:

1) When establishing your initial remote access connection, make sure that you are on a recognized network of your organization (via LAN or WLAN, Shibboleth/Open Athens).

Note: If you are connected to the network of your organization in your Thieme product, you will see the organization's name in the header. 

2) Now register for your Thieme Account and the remote access will be activated automatically. You can view the status at any time in your Thieme Account under "My organization".

If you already have a Thieme Account, you can see which organization we recognize during your use at any time in your Thieme account under "My organizations". You can activate your remote access with your organization by clicking on "Activate remote access". 

Now you can access the content of your organization at any time, anywhere.

Please note: The remote access is valid for 90 days.
Each time you log in to your Thieme Account from your organization's network, the 90 days automatically start over.
If your remote access expires, simply reactivate it as described above.

Thieme supports organizations that work with the service providers Shibboleth or Open Athens.
If your organization uses Shibboleth or Open Athens, click the button "Login with Shibboleth/OpenAthens".

How it works:

1. Enter the name of your institution in the input field. Our context-sensitive search helps you find your organization quickly.
2. Select your organization and confirm with "Continue to registration". 
   You will now be redirected to the registration page of your organization.
3. After logging in, you will be taken directly back to your Thieme product. 
   Now we recognize your organization and you use their licenses in the Thieme products.

If you want to personalize your usage, you may create a Thieme Account.

What does the "My products" page offer and how can I use it?

• Grouping by product including quick access
  All licenses are grouped by product. Click on the "To product" button to go directly to the start page of the relevant product
• Overview of your available licenses
  All licences that are personally available with you or an associated organization are listed per product.
• Differentiate between license types
  We differentiate between personal licences and licences that are provided to you for use by an associated organization.
  If you are connected to an organization, you will see the available licences listed here in the respective products. 
  Under the menu item "My organizations" you can see whether and which organization is connected to your account.
• License status and duration
  You will receive information about the status of your license (active or expired). The start date provides information on when the license was activated for your use. If you also see an end date for a license, it is limited in time or e.g. a canceled subscription.

You can unlock Thieme content online with access codes.  You will need a Thieme Account for this.  Use can your existing account or create an account.

How it works:

1. Click on the "Activate access code" link inside your Thieme product or  login to your Thieme Account and click on "Activate access code" on the start page.
   
   
2. Enter the access code and confirm by clicking on the "Activate access code" button.  You will now have access to the content.

Some Thieme products offer trial access.  If necessary, select the appropriate license package for your trial and fill in the remaining information.

How it works:

1. In your Thieme product, click on the link "Activate journal subscription". 
   Login to your Thieme Account.
2. Select your journal. Optionally, you can enter your subscription number, if available.
   Note: You will find your subscription number on the mailing label of your journal above the address between the two "#".  

3. Confirm your entries with the "Activate subscription" button.
