Biography

David Goldenberg, MD, is a Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist and a tenured professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Penn State University’s College of Medicine, as well as the Chair of  Deprtment of  Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Associate Director of Surgery at Penn State Cancer Institute. He was educated at Ben Gurion University in Israel. After his residency in Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel, he completed a three year fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Dr. Goldenberg has received national recognition, including Newsweek’s Top Cancer Doctors in the US, US News and World Report’s Top Doctors—Top 1% of Physicians in the nation, Best Doctors in America, and America’s Top Doctors for Cancer. Dr. Goldenberg combines a busy surgical practice with teaching and research. His surgical expertise lies in head and neck cancers, thyroid cancers and disease, and transoral robotic surgery for head and neck cancer.  

Dr. Goldenberg’s current clinical research focuses on outcomes and the etiology of the rise in the incidence of thyroid cancer. His basic research lab and translational research focus on thyroid cancer genomics in familial non-medullary thyroid cancer and radiation-induced thyroid cancer. He is an accomplished and prolific author of more than 230 articles, 35 book chapters, and seven books. His latest is Head & Neck Endocrine Surgery: A Comprehensive Textbook, Surgical, and Video Atlas
