Introduction

“For better medicine and a healthier life.” This vision describes the contribution Thieme would like to make to society today and in the future. Our aim as a digital healthcare service provider is to design medicine and healthcare processes in such a way that they develop and improve sustainably in the interest of the people.

We achieve this by providing the various stakeholders in the healthcare system with the relevant information exactly where they need it.

Our products and services meet high quality, safety and innovation standards. As a globally active company, we comply with local, national and international regulatory requirements, standards and laws and are conscious of our social and political responsibility.

What is important to us – our guiding principles

We focus on the wishes and needs of our clients as well as those of our staff. Good relationships and contacts form the basis of our work. We are guided by fair and reliable interactions. This applies to the cooperation with our customers, authors and business partners as well as to the collegial interaction of all Thieme employees.

We value our counterparts regardless of gender, gender identity, religion, origin and nationality, age, social or economic status, level of education, sexual orientation, language, marital status, limitations, appearance or role in the company, and also regardless of experiences and mindsets. We resolutely oppose any form of exclusion because we believe in the strengths, competencies and abilities of each individual and the power of a diversity of views and perspectives.

We respect the personal dignity and personal rights of our employees and respect their privacy. We stand up for human rights and respect the fundamental employee rights of the applicable national legislation. We expressly reject all forms of forced and child labour as well as exploitation of any kind.

How we work together – our principles

Transparency, trust and self-efficacy are components of our corporate culture. We always treat each other with respect and work passionately towards common goals. We have the courage to tackle new challenges and are not afraid to make mistakes. On the contrary: we learn from them. This also includes an open communication culture that makes interrelationships transparent and invites feedback.

We have confidence in ourselves and in the competencies of others. Decisions are made by those who have the greatest competence and not by those who are higher up in the hierarchy.

Sustainability and social responsibility

The climate crisis threatens the health and well-being of all people. Those of us in the health sector have a special responsibility here. We want to help shape a world that is viable, worth living in and fair. In line with our vision “For better medicine and a healthier life”, we are therefore taking concrete steps that contribute, for example, to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations as well as the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement serve as our guiding principles.

As an internationally active company based in Germany, we regularly support social and cultural projects that are directly related to the activities of the Thieme Group. The focus is on projects that contribute locally and internationally to supporting people in difficult situations or providing them with access to education and cultural experiences.

The focus of our work is on people in all their diversity

Every person is unique. It is important to us that all employees can bring this uniqueness to their work at Thieme – regardless of gender, gender identity, religion, origin and nationality, age, social or economic status, level of education, sexual orientation, language, marital status, disability, appearance, or role in the company, also regardless of experience and ways of thinking. In this way, we enable diversity of thought, i.e. different interpretations and perspectives. This creates diversity.
