Internships at Thieme

The Thieme Medical Publishers internship program in our New York office offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of medical publishing and to have direct contact with professionals in the field. In addition to providing general office assistance, interns are typically given special projects to work on in cooperation with staff members. We encourage prospective interns to specify an interest in one of the departments mentioned below. All interns are welcome to attend essential editorial, production and sales meetings. The ideal candidate will have strong computer, communication and organizational skills. Previous book or magazine experience and language skills are a plus but not required.

Journals

Thieme Journals is a fast paced department, growing rapidly, currently publishing over 180 titles in print and digital formats. The Journals Coordinator is responsible for working directly with 40 English titles and their editorial boards, including planning annual meetings, assessing the Impact Factor and indexing, among many more duties. The Journals Dept. seeks an intern with exceptional organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail and accuracy to assist with quality checks and many other projects as assigned.

E-Product Development / E-Publishing Internship

The E-Product Development group at Thieme Publishers seeks tech-savvy interns interested in gaining experience in all phases of the ongoing transition from print- to e-centric publishing. Academic and/or work experience in computer science, web development, communications, and publishing would all be helpful. The successful internship candidate will be working with a small, driven team of developers and programmers on projects that touch on all areas of the publishing efforts at Thieme.

Marketing

Our global marketing program includes direct mail, website, e-mail campaigns, space advertising, and book reviews. Marketing Interns will work in a forward-thinking environment with true hands-on opportunities. This is for hard working, enthusiastic students who want to gain real-world Marketing experience in a short period of time.

Sales

Get involved in compiling advance and promotional material, planning and organizing medical exhibits, and dealing with distributors such as wholesalers and bookstores in the Americas while learning the tricks of the trade! This is great for someone with good organizational skills. Previous bookstore or other sales experience, and fluency in other languages is a plus.

Please mail, fax, or e-mail a cover letter, which briefly explains your area of interest and skills, and which specific department(s) you are applying for, along with your resume and two professional references.
