Stuttgart, February 2025 – Elmar Weber is now the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a member of the Thieme Group management board. With this new position, the Stuttgart-based family business is strengthening its technological focus as a digital healthcare provider. Weber has been significantly involved in the development and expansion of the medical knowledge platform Amboss since 2018 and was most recently involved as CTO for the publishing platform Morressier.
Elmar Weber has been appointed as Chief Technology Officer and as such he expands the management board of the Thieme Group. As a market-leading provider of customized information and services, the Thieme Group is committed to improving health and health care. In his role, Elmar Weber will continue to drive forward the company's technological transformation into a digital healthcare provider together with his teams.
After studying computer science, Elmar Weber worked as a freelance software developer and consultant for clients such as SAP, Holiday Check and long-established companies such as Heidelberger Druckmaschinen. In 2013, he founded his first start-up, launched it on the market and sold it successfully at a later date. In 2018, he took on the role of CTO at the then start-up Amboss and played a key role in expanding and developing the company. Most recently, Elmar Weber was interim CTO at the publishing platform Morressier, where he worked on the systematic use of AI to support academic publishing.
By joining Thieme, Elmar Weber can combine his experience from the start-up world with that of established companies. “I am thrilled by the opportunity to work in a company with such a long tradition and, at the same time, such a strong focus on innovation,” explains Elmar Weber.
