Translations and licensing

Translation into other languages may be useful for some titles. Thieme may handle an English translation in-house (through one of its offices in Stuttgart, New York, Rio or Delhi) if the topic and intended readership are a good fit for the Thieme Group. Alternatively, our licensing department may offer your work to suitable international publishers for translation.

Fees

We make individual agreements on fees with our authors depending on the type of publication and the conditions of the market. These include both annual sales-related fees based on the actual revenues generated and flat fees, one-time payments generally based on the size of the individual contribution and made on the publication date.

Free Copies

We agree on the type and number of free copies for each publication individually. As a rule, our authors receive a complimentary printed copy and may also receive an e-book (in PDF or EPUB format) depending on availability and interest.

Preferential Prices

Editors and authors can take advantage of preferential prices within the framework of the publisher’s respective procedures. At present, you receive a 34% discount on copies of any book to which you have contributed. You can purchase other Thieme Group books at a 20% discount. These discounts only apply to orders for personal use. You can make orders in our online shop or through customer service.
